Compass Dance Team

Magellan International School is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Dancers Workshop, a long-standing Austin dance institution, to launch the Compass Dance Team beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.

Compass Dance Team is designed to bring high-quality, age-appropriate dance education directly into the Magellan community while supporting the school’s mission of developing confident, curious, and well-rounded global citizens. Through this partnership students will have the opportunity to audition for a school-based competitive dance team and provided dance as an elective.

Dancers Workshop, founded in 1974, is known throughout Austin for its thoughtful approach to dance education, emphasizing strong technique, creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. Their programs serve dancers of all levels and backgrounds, with a focus on building confidence and leadership both on and off the stage.

Dancers Workshop will offer rotating elective dance classes during the school day at Magellan, allowing students to explore a variety of styles over the course of the year. In addition, selected students will have the opportunity to participate on the Compass Dance Team, which will rehearse, perform, and represent Magellan at local events and dance competitions.

“This partnership allows us to meet students where they are, integrate the arts into the school day, and create a program that reflects Magellan’s values,” said Shannon Orosco, Director of Dancers Workshop. “Compass Dance Team is about more than performance. It is about collaboration, discipline, confidence, and joy.”

Magellan families are invited to attend aninformational meetingto learn more about the Compass Dance Team program, including structure, expectations, and next steps.
