The Dancers Workshop Performance Team (DWPT) is designed for dancers who love being on stage and are ready for a little more!
DWPT gives dancers the opportunity to experience the excitement of competitive dance while continuing to grow in a positive, supportive environment. Team members train in their regular Dancers Workshop classes during the week and come together for dedicated team rehearsals, where they learn choreography and prepare for performances and competitions throughout the season.
Our goal with DWPT is to give dancers more opportunities to perform, grow, build confidence and be part of a team with a manageable class schedule that allows for children to be in other activities.
What does being on DWPT look like?
DWPT dancers:
- Take a minimum of 1-3 technique classes, per week, at Dancers Workshop
- Attend Thursday rehearsals with their team each week
- Learn and perform group competition routines
- Attend 3 dance competitions and events throughout the season
- Build friendships and learn what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves
Teams are organized by age and level so dancers can be challenged appropriately while having a great experience with their teammates.
Who is DWPT for?
DWPT is a great next step for dancers who love performing, want more time on stage and are excited to work toward something with a team.
Dancers do not need to be pursuing dance professionally… or even know exactly where dance will take them! We want DWPT to be a place where kids can challenge themselves, become stronger dancers and performers, make great friends, and create some pretty incredible memories al(aong the way.
For dancers who want even more, DWPT also offers additional opportunities throughout the season, including conventions and our Extension Program for dancers selected to train and compete with solos.
Ready to take the next step?
Placement on DWPT is determined through an annual audition process in May. We’re looking for dancers who are excited to learn, willing to work, ready to be part of a team… and, most importantly, love to dance.
